The University of Regina's women's hockey team hosts the Calgary Dinos this Friday and Saturday at The Co-operators Centre with game time scheduled for 7 p.m. on both nights.

The Cougars (6-11-1) come into the series riding a two-game winning streak after a weekend home sweep over UBC two weekends ago. Paige Wheeler was the offensive catalyst for the Cougars in the 5-2 and 5-1 wins over the Thunderbirds, as the fourth-year forward registered three-point nights in both victories.

Wheeler is now tied for sixth in the conference with nine goals and also leads the Cougars with 14 points in the team's 18 Canada West games. Rianne Wight is second on the squad with 13 points, while Gina Campbell has registered 12 points and rookie defenceman Carleen Meszaros leads the team's blueliners with a goal and five assists.

The Cougars continue to platoon rookie Jennifer Schmidt and fifth-year veteran Lisa Urban between the pipes, as both goalies saw action in the UBC series. Schmidt has impressive numbers this season, with a 2.62 goals-against average to go along with a .917 save percentage.

Calgary (14-4-0) was ranked No. 3 in this week's CIS Top Ten and enter the weekend winners of five Canada West games in a row. The Dinos sit in second place in the conference standings and just two points back of first-place Saskatchewan with two games in hand on the Huskies.

Hayley Wickenheiser leads the Dinos and ranks second in the conference with 23 points despite playing in just 11 of Calgary's 16 games this season. Iya Gavrilova has scored a Canada West-leading 14 goals and is second on the team with 22 points, while Stephanie Ramsey leads all defencemen with 22 points. Elana Lovell is also in double digits in goals for Calgary, as the fourth-year forward has scored 12 times in the Dinos' 16 games.

Amanda Tapp has an 11-4 record with a 1.69 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage for Calgary, while backup Jennifer Mallard has seen action in five games with equally impressive numbers.

The Cougars will hit the road next weekend for a pair of games at Lethbridge before finishing off the 2011-12 season with home afternoon games against Alberta on Feb. 11 and Feb. 12.

Calgary has two home games against Saskatchewan and two road games at Manitoba remaining on the Canada West schedule.
