The top-ranked University of Regina's women's basketball team was dominant on Friday night in a 96-38 road win over the Brandon Bobcats.
The Cougars led 20-13 after the first quarter and held a 43-26 advantage at halftime, but clamped down on the defensive side of the ball in the second half and allowed just 12 points in the game's final two quarters. Regina outscored Brandon by a 53-12 margin in the second half to run away with the win.
Four Cougars broke into double figures in scoring, led by 14 points apiece from
Lindsay Ledingham (pictured) and
Danielle Schmidt. Rookie post
Alyssia Kajati had 12 points in just 15 minutes on the floor, while
Carly Graham was 4-for-6 from three-point land and also scored 12.
Ledingham had 12 rebounds and Kajati pulled down 10 as both players registered double-doubles. The double-double was the third of the season for Ledingham, while Kajati had career highs in points and rebounds in the first double-double of her career.
Aimee Johnston accounted for the majority of Brandon's offence, scoring a game-high 22 points and adding eight rebounds.
The Cougars improve their unblemished Canada West record to 8-0, while Brandon falls to 0-9 in conference play.
