The University of Regina's men's hockey team ended up with a weekend split with Calgary after the No. 8-ranked Dinos registered a 4-1 win on Saturday night in Canada West action at The Co-operators Centre.

Walker Wintoneak scored two and added an assist for Calgary, while Corey Banfield and Taylor Stefishen added singles. Matt Strueby replied for the Cougars, who fall to 4-2-0 on the season.

Strueby opened up the scoring 11 minutes into the opening session. A point shot by John Sonntag hit Strueby, but the third-year forward was able to corral the puck and put it past Calgary goalie Dustin Butler to put the home side on the scoreboard.

Calgary evened up the score six minutes into the second. Giffen Nyren passed it low to Blake Clement, who found Wintoneak in the slot for a one-timer that went five-hole on Lucas Gore.

Wintoneak gave Calgary its first lead of the weekend late in the second with his second goal of the period. A neutral-zone turnover gave Calgary a 2-on-1, and Kodie Curran slid it over to Wintoneak who went high glove side for his fourth of the season.

Calgary came out strong in the third period, scoring twice in the first three minutes to increase its lead to three goals. Banfield scored on another 2-on-1 after a nice back-and-forth with Wintoneak, and Stefishen added his first of the season after a wild goalmouth scramble.

Butler made 17 saves in the win for Calgary, while Regina goalie Lucas Gore was peppered with 40 shots and saved 36 of them. Neither team was able to score on the power play, as Calgary (4-2-0) was 0-for-2 with the man advantage and Regina was 0-for-6.

Both teams return to action with home games next weekend. Calgary hosts Manitoba, while the Cougars host Mount Royal.
