Box Score

The University of Regina's No. 3-ranked women's basketball team completed a two-game sweep over Winnipeg on Friday night with a 76-55 victory at the Duckworth Centre in Winnipeg.

The Cougars actually trailed at the half, but opened the third quarter with 13 unanswered points to turn a one-point deficit into an 11-point lead. The visitors went on another 11-0 run early in the fourth quarter to seal their second win in as many nights over the Wesmen.

Michelle Clark was on fire for the Cougars, going 11-for-16 from the field including 6-for-9 from three-point land and leading all players in both points (29) and assists (6). Jennilea Coppola (pictured) tied her career high with 16 rebounds, while Lindsay Ledingham scored 12 points and Danielle Schmidt chipped in with nine.

Stephanie Kleysen led Winnipeg (0-4) with 15 points.

The victory increases Regina's winning streak to three games and gives the Cougars a 3-1 conference record, good enough for third place in the Prairie Division standings.

The Cougars are back at home next weekend with a pair of afternoon games against Manitoba. They'll tip off against the Bisons at 1 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.
