The University of Regina's women's hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision to the visiting No. 7-ranked Alberta Pandas on Saturday afternoon at The Co-operators Centre.

Pandas fifth-year goalie Kaitlyn Chapman made 17 saves to secure the shutout, while Alberta had goals from Hayley Helland, Karla Bourke, and Sarah Hilworth in the victory.

Alberta improves to 13-3-7 with the win, while the Cougars fall to 7-14-2.

The game was scoreless after the first period due in large part to Cougar goalie Lisa Urban, who made a trio of pad saves in tight to keep the Pandas off the scoreboard.

Both teams traded offensive chances in the second. The Cougars' chance came first as they broke in on a two-on-one, but Rianne Wight fired wide. Urban made a fantastic right-pad save on Katie Stewart in the slot shortly thereafter, but the Pandas opened the scoring past the midway mark of the second period on Helland's point shot that beat a screened Urban five-hole.

It appeared though the Cougars might have tied up the contest with just a minute left in the middle frame, but the goal was eventually waved off after the referee consulted with the goal judge.

Alberta increased its lead to 2-0 when Bourke gathered up a loose puck at the side of the net and deposited it in the yawning cage. Hilworth, who had a two-point game to give her 27 for the season, added an insurance goal late in the third. Bourke assisted on Hilworth's goal to record a two-point afternoon as well.

Urban made 18 saves in the loss.

The two teams will wrap up the Canada West schedule tomorrow at The Co-operators Centre. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
