Cougars improve to 5-2 after win over MRU

The University of Regina's women's basketball team took control with a 15-0 run in the first quarter and never looked back in a 90-59 win over Mount Royal on Friday night in Calgary.

Alyssia Kajati (pictured) was 12-for-16 from the field and ended up with 24 points and seven rebounds in 21 minutes off the bench for the Cougars, while Nicole Clarke hit four triples and had 22 points and seven rebounds.

Three other Cougars broke into double figures in scoring, including Taylor Pelletier who was 2-for-2 from three-point land and had a career-high 11 points. Jennilea Coppola had 13 points, while Katie Polischuk also scored 11 and Kehlsie Crone filled up the scoresheet with seven points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Mount Royal (1-6) was led by Jordan McLean's 19 points.

The Cougars improve to 5-2 on the season and will have to make a pair of flights on Saturday morning to get from Calgary to Prince George in time for Saturday night's game at UNBC.
