Box Score

The University of Regina's women's basketball team scored the first 13 points of the game and rolled to a 71-38 victory over the Brandon Bobcats on Friday night in Brandon.

Michelle Clark was 6-for-10 from the field and led the Cougars with 13 points, 11 of which came in the first half alone. Lindsay Ledingham added 12 points for the U of R, while Brittany Read came off the bench to add 10 points and six rebounds in 12 minutes on the floor.

The Cougars improve their Canada West record to 18-3, but Calgary's win over Lethbridge on Friday ensures that the U of R will finish in second place in the Prairie Division. The Cougars, who will host the third-place team in the Pacific Division next weekend in the Canada West quarterfinals, will know their opponent in the first round of the playoffs as soon as late Friday night.

Brandon, which was led by nine points from Alanna Johnston, falls to 0-21 on the season. The two teams will close out the Canada West schedule on Saturday night in Brandon.

NOTES: The Cougars have now won 67 consecutive conference and postseason games over Brandon and haven't lost to the Bobcats since the 1994-95 season.
