Box Score
The University of Regina's women's basketball team closed out the conference schedule with a 79-28 win over Brandon on Saturday night at the Healthy Living Centre on the BU campus.
The Cougars finish the Canada West schedule in second place in the Prairie Division with a 19-3 conference record. They end the schedule tied with Calgary (19-3), but the Dinos win the tiebreaker due to their superior record against in-division opponents.
Michelle Clark and
Brittany Read paced the Cougars offensively, as both players tied for the team lead with 15 points. Clark was 6-for-9 from the field and hit three three-pointers, while Read shot 6-for-8 from the field and scored her 15 minutes in just 14 minutes on the floor.
Megan Chamberlin (pictured) pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds in the win, smashing her previous high of 11 initially set against Victoria in last year's conference quarterfinal series and equalled earlier this year in a game against Winnipeg.
Chantel Gaslard had a team-high 11 points for Brandon, which ends the season with a 0-22 conference record.
The Cougars will now prepare to host the University of Victoria in a best-of-three Canada West quarterfinal series next weekend at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport. The winner will advance to the Canada West Final Four.
