Box Score

Charlotte Kot (pictured) scored 17 points and the University of Regina's women's basketball team pulled away from the University of Manitoba in the second quarter en route to a 74-50 win on Saturday night in Winnipeg.

The win gives the Cougars (14-2) a weekend sweep over the Bisons as the U of R keeps pace with Alberta and Saskatchewan atop the Prairie Division standings.

The Cougars led by six after the first quarter, but went on an 11-1 run early in the second to open up a double-digit lead. Manitoba brought the deficit down to 10 late in the third after the Cougars had led by as many as 19 points in the first half, but the U of R responded with a 12-2 run and never looked back.

Besides Kot, three other Cougars scored in double digits including Nicole Clarke (13), Alyssia Kajati (12), and Jennilea Coppola (10). Megan Chamberlin led all players with 10 rebounds, while Coppola's nine rebounds left her just short of a double-double.

Allison Balasko led Manitoba (3-13) with 11 points.

The Cougars will now prepare for an important road trip to the Lower Mainland next weekend, where they'll play Fraser Valley next Friday and Trinity Western on Saturday.

NOTES: The Cougars' win streak over Manitoba now stands at 17 games … interim head coach Carly Graham is now 2-0 … Kot's streak of consecutive double-doubles was snapped at four games.
