The University of Regina men's hockey team snapped the three-game winning streak that the Lethbridge Pronghorns were on with a 4-1 victory in Canada West action on Sunday afternoon.
Dylen McKinlay,
Ian McNulty and
Sanfred King (pictured) each tallied three points in the win. McNulty had his second and third goals of the season to go along with an assist, King notched a goal and two helpers and McKinlay collected three assists.
Troy Hunter scored the Cougars fourth goal off a feed from defenceman
Jordan Reeve.
The Cougars, who peppered the Lethbridge goaltenders with 50 shots on net, improve to 2-10 on the season.
McNulty and
Liam Brennan each contributed seven shots on net.
The line of McNulty, King and McKinlay all registered points on each of the first three goals for Regina, with both of McNulty's markers coming in the first period and King's coming early in the second.
Tim Campbell replied for Lethbridge to shrink the Cougars lead to 3-1, but Hunter scored his first of the season late in the second to restore the three-goal lead.
Mitch Kilgore made the start in net for Regina and made 22 saves for his first win of the season.
Dylan Tait got the nod for the Pronghorns, but was pulled following King's goal after allowing three goals on 21 shots.
Warren Shymko came on in relief for Tait, and made 28 saves in 37 minutes of work.
Lethbridge moves to 3-9 with the loss.
The Cougars are back in action next weekend with a home-and-home against the Saskatchewan Huskies. Friday night will see the Cougars playing host to the Huskies at The Co-operators Centre at 7 p.m., followed by a rematch on Saturday night in Saskatoon.
