Bisons power past Cougars with huge second frame

Alanna Sharman has three goals and two assists and Maggie Litchfield-Medd chipped in with four assists as the Manitoba Bisons cruised past the University of Regina women's hockey team 6-1 in Winnipeg on Saturday night.

Alana Serhan added two goals and Michelle Pawluk had a goal and a helper for the Bisons, who complete the sweep with Saturday's win.

Alexis Larson (pictured) scored the lone goal for the Cougars, who drop to 4-6-8-2 with the loss.

Larson's goal opened the scoring and came on the powerplay in the first period. Larson's third of the season was assisted by Triston Riemer and Natasha Kostenko.

The Cougars led 1-0 through the first period, but the Bisons rattled off five goals in the second frame. Sharman added one more in the third period to complete the hat trick. 

Jennifer Schmidt started the game in net but was pulled after the Bisons incredible second period. Toni Ross came on in relief and made 13 saves.
Amanda Schubert stopped 20 shots for the Bisons.

The Cougars will be back in action next weekend as they play host to the UBC Thunderbirds.
