The University of Regina women's soccer team was handled by the Saskatchewan Huskies on Saturday, falling 4-0 to the provincial rival.
Leesa Eggum, Rebecca Weckworth and Rita Fetsch scored for the Huskies. Saskatchewan also benefitted from an own goal by the Cougars.
Eggum and Weckworth scored within two minutes of each other, with Eggum's goal coming in the 20th minute and Weckworth adding another in the 22nd.
The own goal came right before half, in the 44th minute, and Fetsch sealed the deal with her second of the year in the 61st minute.
Kacey McFee was peppered by Huskie shots, facing 12 shots on goal and making eight saves in her 90 minutes of work. The Huskies offence was relentless, tallying 18 efforts towards the net on the match.
Meanwhile, the Cougars attack was held in check by the Huskies, as the visitors could only manage three shots. The only shot on net for the Cougars was off the foot of
Deanna Dartige (pictured), and came in the 28th minute.
The Cougars are back at home next weekend, hosting the Alberta Pandas on Saturday and the UNBC Timberwolves on Sunday. Both game are scheduled for noon at the U of R Field.
