The University of Regina women's hockey team was dropped 6-2 by Mount Royal University in the second half of a weekend set on Saturday afternoon.
Rachel Piitz scored twice for the home team, while Kate Hufnagel, Sydney Laurin, Megan Carver and Elisha Cunningham each scored once.
Stephanie Sawchuk (pictured) scored both goals for the Cougars, who drop to 4-5-2-1 with the loss.
Mount Royal found the net first, as Cunningham benefitted on a nice pass from behind the net by Carley Bertram. Hufnagel scored a powerplay goal right before the period ended to give MRU a 2-0 lead heading into the break.
MRU went up 3-0 before the Cougars could get on the scoreboard, as Sawchuk banged in a loose puck in front of the net for her second of the season.

Alexis Larson assisted on the marker that drew the Cougars closer.
The home team would expand the lead again thanks to two goals from Piitz, one midway through the second and one seven minutes and 34 seconds into the third period. Sawchuk would score her second of the night and third of the weekend a few minutes later, using an MRU defender as a screen and beating Emma Pincott to make the score 5-2.Â
Magwood collected her second assist of the night on the goal, and Kylie Gavelin also notched a helper.Carver added an empty netter to put the game away, improving Mount Royal's record to 5-6-0-1.
Jane Kish made the start in net for Regina, stopping 18 shots. Pincott made 26 saves for MRU.
The Cougars are back at home next weekend, hosting the Lethbridge Pronghorns for a two-game set.
