The University of Regina women's hockey team is on the road again this weekend, heading to Lethbridge to battle the Pronghorns for a two-game set.

The Cougars hosted the Pronghorns in November for a pair of games, and came away with 3-0 and 3-2 wins. Kylie Gavelin racked up two goals and three assists in those two wins, earning her Canada West female second star of the week honours.

The Cougars are coming off a weekend split against the Calgary Dinos, winning 4-3 on Friday before falling 3-0 the following afternoon. Stephanie Sawchuk had a goal and two assists for the Cougars on Friday, while Jaycee Magwood, Tessa Wilson and Gavelin each scored once. Toni Ross was the winning goaltender on Friday and Jane Kish made 17 saves in Saturday's loss.

Magwood continues to lead the Cougars in points with seven goals and 13 assists in 18 games. Her 20 points leaves her in second in the Canada West scoring race behind Calgary's Iya Gavrilova. Gavelin is second on the team with 18 points, while Emma Waldenberger (13), Bailey Braden (10) and Sawchuk (10) have also reached the double-digit plateau.

Ross remains tied for second place in the conference with a .936 save percentage and has managed a 1.82 goals-against average in her 14 starts. Her 10 wins are tops in Canada West heading into the weekend.

Lethbridge enters this weekend with a 6-9-2-1 record, having dropped a pair of games to the Saskatchewan Huskies last weekend. After winning seven of their first eight games the Pronghorns have dropped nine of their last 10 and sit in seventh place in the conference.

Lethbridge's attack is powered by Lauren Fredrich who has six goals and five assists through 18 games. Kirsten Reeves and Jocelyn Sabourin have also been effective with nine points each. Alicia Anderson been the starting goalie in 15 games for the 'Horns, registering a 2.36 GAA and stopping pucks at a .928 clip.

Friday's matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m. local time and Saturday's rematch will face off at 1 p.m.
