The University of Regina's women's basketball team had offensive contributions up and down the roster as the Cougars cruised to an 87-42 win over Manitoba on Saturday afternoon to complete a weekend sweep.
Five Cougars broke into double figures in points, including
Charlotte Kot with a game-high 20.
Christina McCusker added 11 points, while
Alyssia Kajati,
Katie Polischuk, and
Alexi Rowden (pictured) each had 10.
Kajati also led all players with 10 rebounds to notch her third double-double of the Canada West schedule, while Rowden's 10 points off the bench were a season high for the rookie.
Kehlsie Crone added nine points for the U of R, while
Michaela Kleisinger was credited with eight assists in just 14 minutes off the bench.
Alyssa Lucier led Manitoba (1-15) with 11 points.
The victory runs the U of R's winning streak to eight as the Cougars improve to 13-1 and remain a half game back of second-place Alberta and a full game back of first-place Saskatchewan in the Pioneer Division standings.
The Cougars will finally return home next weekend for their first games at the CKHS since early January. They'll host Victoria (7-9) on Feb. 5 and Feb. 6 before closing out the Canada West schedule with away games at Calgary on Feb. 12 and Feb. 13 and home games against No. 1-ranked and division-leading Saskatchewan on Feb. 19 and Feb. 20.
NOTES: Avery Pearce started her second consecutive game for the Cougars ... she's starting in place of
Sidney Dobner for precautionary reasons after Dobner suffered a slight injury.
