The University of Regina's women's basketball team has now won all seven of its non-conference games against CIS competition this season after registering 84-48 and 65-53 wins over the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Friday and Saturday at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

The Cougars will now prepare for three games at a non-conference tournament hosted by the University of Alberta next weekend. They'll take on OUA opponents Lakehead and Toronto on Friday and Saturday before meeting the host Pandas on Sunday.

The Cougars will be playing at the Alberta tournament without
Sara Hubenig,
Michaela Kleisinger,
Charlotte Kot, and
Katie Polischuk. Those four are currently overseas representing the U of R and the CIS at the 3x3 FISU World University League final in Xiamen, China.

Friday – Cougars 84, Lethbridge 48 [

The Cougars went on a 16-0 run in the first half and never looked back, leading the Pronghorns by 17 at the break and then running away with it in the third quarter.

Kot was 6-for-8 from the field and 6-for-7 from the line to finish with a game-high 18 points for the Cougars.
Caitlin Zacharias added 15 points, while
Kyanna Giles collected 12 points and nine rebounds and
Ainsley MacIntyre finished with 10 points.

Zoe Dahl scored eight points for Lethbridge.

Saturday – Cougars 65, Lethbridge 53 [

The Cougars held a healthy 30-16 lead at halftime, but Lethbridge reeled off a 16-4 run to get to within two points late in the third quarter. The Pronghorns hung around until late in the game, but the Cougars conceded just one point in the final three minutes and quickly got the cushion back up to double digits to notch their seventh consecutive win.

Britton Belyk and Kot both scored 12 points for the Cougars, while Polischuk and Zacharias both had 11. Kleisinger got the start for the U of R and had eight points, a game-high 12 rebounds, and five assists in 24 minutes played.

Dahl led Lethbridge again in scoring, finishing with 18 points.
