The University of Regina's women's basketball team finished its sensational non-conference schedule with wins over Fraser Valley and UBC at the Super 8 Tournament hosted by the University of Victoria.
The two wins push the Cougars' record to 12-0 against U Sports competition this season.
With non-conference play now complete, the Cougars will prepare to host Victoria next weekend in their Canada West openers at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
Friday – Cougars 66, Fraser Valley 57
The Cougars built up a 16-point advantage at halftime as they took a 39-23 lead into the break, only to see Fraser Valley battle back and outscore Regina by a 20-8 margin in the third quarter to go into the final period trailing by just four. But the Cougars outlasted Fraser Valley down the stretch, eventually putting away the Cascades for a nine-point win.
