The University of Regina men's hockey team is away from home this weekend, as the Cougars head to Calgary to take on the Dinos for the first meeting of the season between the two teams.

Regina (3-9-0) is coming off a sweep of the UBC Thunderbirds, taking 6-1 and 4-3 victories on home ice last weekend. Tristan Frei was the offensive star for the Cougars, registering three goals and three assists in the two wins and taking Canada West First Star of the Week honours. Cody Fowlie added a goal and four assists, and Andy Desautels made 56 total saves for two wins in net.

Frei's big weekend puts him atop the points list among Cougars, with four goals and six assists in 12 games. J.J. Coleshaw has eight points in as many games, and Fowlie is next with seven points.

Desautels continues to see most of the action between the pipes for Regina, starting eight of the team's 12 games. The second-year goalie has recorded a goals-against average of 3.36 and a save percentage of .903 in nine appearances.

The Dinos (7-4-1) occupy third place in the conference after splitting with the Saskatchewan Huskies last weekend. The Huskies opened the weekend with a convincing 5-0 win but Calgary bounced back for a 2-1 triumph on Saturday.

Elgin Pearce leads the Dinos in points with seven goals and four assists. Drydn Dow has 10 points while Cain Franson and Dylan Walchuk have each chipped in with eight.

Steven Stanford has played in seven games in net for the Dinos, posting a 2.94 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage. Rookie Matthew Greenfield has been impressive in his three starts, winning all three and putting up a 0.79 GAA and .965 save percentage.

Calgary took three of four matchups from the Cougars last season. Friday's game is scheduled for 8 p.m. Saskatchewan time and Saturday's rematch is set for 3 p.m.
