Playing in a deciding game for the second time in the span of just six days, the University of Regina's men's basketball team fell by an 86-73 score to Thompson Rivers in Game 3 of a Canada West quarterfinal series on Saturday in Kamloops, B.C.
Two big TRU runs were the difference in Saturday's game. The first one saw Reese Pribilsky hit three-pointers on three consecutive possessions as part of a 14-2 run over the last two minutes of the first quarter and the first minute of the second to build up their first double-digit lead of the game.
The Cougars were eventually able to recover from a deficit that reached as many as 17 points in the third quarter, scoring 10 consecutive points in the fourth to cut TRU's lead to 68-67 just shy of the midway mark of the final period. But the Cougars only scored six more points the rest of the way, and Thompson Rivers put 18 on the board over that span to pull away from Regina for the win.
Pribilsky finished with a game-high 27 points for TRU, while both Volodymyr Ieogorov (21 points, 14 rebounds) and Josh Wolfram (15 points, 15 rebounds) had double-doubles for the WolfPack. Gerard Gore added 15 points in the win.
Playing in what would turn out to be his final game in a Regina uniform,
Jonathan Tull led the Cougars one last time in scoring with 17 points and added seven rebounds.
Brandon Tull had 14 points and seven rebounds, while
Brian Ofori got the start and had nine points and a team-high 12 boards.
Aaron McGowan finished with 12 points, while
Will Tallman - also playing in his last game with the Cougars - had seven points and seven rebounds.
