Canadian Interuniversity Sport named its major award winners and All-Canadians on Wednsday morning, with libero
Jacques Borgeaud earning the University of Regina's first All-Canadian nod in men's volleyball program history.
Borgeaud was named a first-team All-Canadian after leading the nation in digs this season, his fifth and final year at the U of R. His 238 digs this year not only led the entire CIS, but also broke his own University of Regina single-season record that he set in 2014-15.
Over his five seasons with the Cougars, Borgeaud finishes as the school's all-time leader in career digs (950), digs per set (2.63), and total sets played (361). His total of 950 career digs is the second most ever compiled by a Canada West player, trailing only former UBC libero Blair Bann (1018).
Borgeaud, who's on track to graduate with a Bachelor of Kinesiology from the U of R this spring, won't be finished with volleyball just yet despite exhausting his CIS eligibility. He'll be part of the Australian national team that will participate at the World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Tokyo, Japan from May 28 to June 5. Currently ranked No. 13 in the world, the Volleyroos will qualify for the 2016 Olympics with a top-four finish at the eight-team tournament.
