The University of Regina women's hockey team is at home for the second-straight weekend, with a pair of big matchups with the Alberta Pandas.
The final regular season meetings between the Cougars and Pandas have plenty of playoff implications, with the fourth-place Cougars just two points back of the Pandas and four off of the second-place Manitoba Bisons.
The Cougars are coming off a split against the Bisons, taking a 2-1 double-overtime victory on Friday night and Manitoba rebounding for a 4-2 triumph on Saturday. Rookie forward
Chelsea Hallson was the hero in Friday's win, netting her first career Canada West goal in the second overtime period.
Jaycee Magwood leads Canada West in goals scored with 11, and is second in total points with 20.
Kylie Gavelin and
Kylee Kupper are the next Cougars on the list, both of whom have six goals and seven assists.
Bailey Braden (5G, 7A) and
Emma Waldenberger (4G, 6A) are also in double figures in points.
Jane Kish has earned eight wins in goal for the Cougars, posting a 2.46 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage. Rookie
Morgan Baker has made seven appearances between the pipes, recording a 1.78 GAA and a .913 save percentage.
Amy Boucher leads the Pandas in points scored with 14, while second-year skater Alex Poznikoff had 13 to her credit. Autumn McDougall has 11 points and rookie Kennedy Ganser has notched nine in 18 games.
Lindsey Post is tied for the conference lead with nine wins in net, and is second in goals-against average with a mark of 1.47. Post also has three shutouts to go along with a .925 save percentage.
The Cougars and Pandas faced off in Edmonton in early November, with the Cougars scoring a 3-0 win in the opener but Alberta bouncing back for a 4-2 win the following afternoon.
