Daniela Castro's goal in the 63rd minute helped the University of Regina women's soccer team to a 1-1 draw against the Fraser Valley Cascades on Saturday night.
UFV's Brittany Zacharuk opened the scoring in the 19th minute before Castro scored her first of the season off an assist from Brooke Schlossarek.
Castro's goal came off a free kick taken by Schlossarek, as the fourth-year midfielder was waiting at the far post to convert the header past Emily Harold.
Regina put three shots towards the goal, with two of them hitting their target. UFV countered with eight shots and three on goal. Ashton Lowry stopped two shots but made a number of timely plays to limit the UFV attack.
The Cougars (0-6-6) will be back home next weekend to close the Canada West regular season with crucial games against Winnipeg and Manitoba. Winnipeg sits at 1-7-4 while Manitoba is 3-6-3. The Cougars are still alive in the Prairie Division playoff hunt, sitting six points back of the Bisons for the final spot.
