The University of Regina's women's basketball team held off the Western Mustangs for a 62-53 win on Sunday afternoon in the fifth-place game at the Darcel Wright Memorial Classic hosted by Ryerson University in Toronto.

Sunday's win was highlighted by a big double-double off the bench for
Angela Bongomin, who scored 12 points and added a game-high 10 rebounds for the Cougars. Seven of those boards were on the offensive glass, helping Regina to a big 57-37 rebounding edge over Western.

Kyanna Giles added 12 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and four steals for the Cougars.
Michaela Kleisinger chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds, while
Christina McCusker scored nine points and pulled down seven boards.

Madison Horst led Western with a 17-point, seven-rebound performance.

The Cougars will now turn their attention towards the Canada West schedule, which begins next weekend with a pair of road games at Calgary. Regina compiled a 5-3 record in non-conference play, including wins over Ottawa, Lakehead, Lethbridge, York, and Western and losses to Laval, Saskatchewan, and Ryerson.
