A deflected shot by Elise Endicott in the third period was the difference on Saturday afternoon, as the University of Regina women's hockey team completed the weekend sweep of the Calgary Dinos with a 2-1 victory.
Endicott's first goal of the season came at the 14:10 mark of the third period, as she got a piece of a Chelsea Hallson shot and tipped it past Kelsey Roberts for the deciding marker. Nikki Watters-Matthes also scored for the Cougars, and Jane Kish made 17 saves for the win.
Rachel Paul had the lone goal for the Dinos, who fall to 1-9-0. Roberts stopped 19 shots in goal for Calgary.
Paul's goal came on the powerplay late in the first period, scooping a rebound by Kish after the initial save was made on a point shot.
Regina replied with a two-on-one rush in the second period, as Jenna Merk slipped a pass to Watters-Matthes who made no mistake with a high shot.
Roberts was pulled from the Dino goal late in the third, but the Cougar defence stood tall and sealed the win.
The Cougars (5-5-1-1) will return home next weekend to host the third-place UBC Thunderbirds.
