The University of Regina men's hockey team wrapped up the 2017-18 Canada West season with a 6-4 win against the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Saturday afternoon.
Cougar captain Cody Fowlie finished his five-year career in style, registering a hat trick in the win. Colton Sparrow, Tyson Predinchuk and Jordan Burns also found the net for the Cougars.
Blake Orban, Bryson Gore, Brooks Maxwell and Taylor Fisher replied for the Pronghorns.
Fowlie opened the scoring just 13 seconds in to Saturday's contest, ripping a quick shot over the shoulder over Ty Edmonds. Sparrow lit the lamp at the 2:42 mark, and Fowlie struck again at 8:51 to stretch the lead to 3-0.
Lethbridge would get one back before the end of the first period, but goals from Predinchuk and Burns made it 5-1 midway through the second period. Lethbridge would not go away, though, as Gore was able to beat Michael Herringer and Maxwell added another just 18 seconds later.
Fisher's goal on the powerplay in the third period made it a 5-4 game, but Fowlie sealed the deal late with an empty netter as Regina snapped a 13-game losing streak and ended the season on a high note.
Herringer was stellar in net for Regina, making 43 saves between the pipes. The Cougars tallied 28 shots, 22 of which were handled by the duo of Edmonds and Garret Hughson.
The Cougars finish the season with a 4-22-2 record, as seniors Fowlie, Sparrow, Austin Bourhis, Stephen Langford, Ian McNulty, Brody Luhning and Christian Magnus wrap up their U SPORTS eligibility.
