Lilla Carpenter-Boesch scored two goals as the University of Regina women's hockey team picked up a 2-1 win over Calgary and leapfrogged the Dinos into the final Canada West playoff spot on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Cougars improve to 7-14-1-4 move back into the sixth playoff spot in the Canada West standings. Regina is now two points up on Calgary and one point back of fifth-place Mount Royal. The Cougars will close the Canada West regular season with a home matchup against the last-place Lethbridge Pronghorns while Calgary will visit first-place Manitoba and MRU will host Saskatchewan.
Carpenter-Boesch scored her second of the season just 21 seconds in to Saturday's contest, and again late in the third after Georgina Williams had evened the score for Calgary.
Kylee Kupper picked up assists on both Regina goals, and Emma Waldenberger also notched a helper on the first-period marker.
Morgan Baker was the winning netminder for the Cougars, making 18 saves for her second victory of the season. Kelsey Roberts stopped 20 Cougar shots at the other end of the rink.
The Cougars will look to punch their ticket to the Canada West postseason next weekend against Lethbridge, with games set for Friday night (7 PM) and Saturday afternoon (3 PM) at The Co-operators Centre.
