After taking a 1-0 lead early, the University of Regina men's hockey team surrendered four consecutive goals as the UBC Thunderbirds took a 4-1 win at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre on Saturday night.

Connor Odelein opened the scoring with his first of the season early in the first period, netting a wrist shot off a feed from
Turner Ripplinger in front of the UBC net.
Landon Peel also picked up an assist on the evening's opening marker.

The home team drew even in the second period, as Quentin Greenwood one-timed a shot past
Brandon Holtby at the 6:13 mark. Third period goals from Brett Clayton, Carter Popoff and Quinn Benjafield gave UBC its first win of the season, as the T-Birds improve to 1-3-2. The Cougars drop to 1-5-0 with the result.

Holtby was sturdy in goal, making 31 saves in his second start of the weekend. Rylan Toth was the winning goaltender, stopping 29 Cougar efforts. Ripplinger led the Coguars with five shots on goal.

The Cougars will be back at The Co-operators Centre next weekend, with a matchup against Mount Royal University.
