Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Kish earns third straight shutout against Pandas

Jaycee Magwood and Jordan Kulbida scored for the Cougars to give Regina a 2-0 win over the visiting Alberta Pandas on Friday evening in a women's hockey game at The Co-operators Centre.

Jane Kish made 21 saves for her third straight shutout to help Regina improve to 3-6-2-0 on the season, while Halle Oswald made 14 saves for the Pandas who fall to 4-6-1-0.

The first period of play was a defensive battle as both goaltenders were able to keep the opposing team off of the board.

Magwood opened up the scoring with a power play goal at the 12:48 mark in the second period. The Cougars cycled the puck around Alberta's zone until Tamara McVannel set Magwood up for a one-timer slap shot that squeezed by a screened Oswald. Elise Endicott also recorded an assist on the play.

The Cougars' second goal came only 31 seconds later from Kulbida.  Rachel O'Toole put a wrist show towards the net from the point, where Kulbida was screening and managed to tip the puck by Oswald.

Alberta was on the attack throughout the third period, outshooting Regina 11-1 while also going on the power play four times. Kish and the Cougars' penalty kill stood firm, though, sealing the win over the No. 9-ranked Pandas.

Regina and Alberta will battle again on Saturday afternoon (3:00) at The Co-operators Centre.
