Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Nagel shines in debut as Cougars beat Pronghorns

Tanner Nagel notched a goal and an assist in his U SPORTS debut, helping Regina defeat the University of Lethbridge men's hockey team 4-1 at The Co-operators Centre on Friday evening.

Brandon Holtby made 11 saves to help the Cougars improve to 3-12-2 on the season, while Taz Burman made 27 saves for the Pronghorns who fall to 5-11-1.

Luke Coleman scored for Lethbridge, while Nagel, Conner Chaulk, Tyler Adams and Arthur Miller replied for the Cougars.

Coleman opened up the scoring midway through the first period while attempting to pass the puck to the front of the net it deflected off a Regina defender's stick and into the back of the net.

Nagel got the Cougars on the board with 7:57 left in the second period. Picking up the puck at the blue line, Nagel walked in and ripped a wrist shot bar down by Burman. Two minutes later, Chaulk gave the Cougars a 2-1 lead. Adams and Miller both scored in the third period to seal the victory for the Cougars. Adams took the puck behind the Pronghorns net and circled into the slot before firing the puck top shelf into the back of the net, while Miller scored on a breakaway.

The Cougars and Pronghorns will face off again on Saturday afternoon, with puck drop set for 3 p.m. at The Co-operators Centre.
