Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Cougars fall 3-1 to Mount Royal in Saturday matinée

QUICKLY
  • Kaylee Dyer scored her first career goal, but the University of Regina's women's hockey team suffered a 3-1 loss to Mount Royal on Saturday afternoon at The Co-operators Centre.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Mount Royal opened the scoring three minutes in when Courtney Kollman slid a pass from behind the net out to Tatum Amy, who put home her sixth of the campaign.
  • MRU extended its lead to 2-0 on a Mackenzie Butz power play goal just past the midway point of the second period.
  • The Cougars immediately cut the deficit to one on Dyer's goal, which came when the second-year forward knocked home a shot from the bottom of the right circle after the puck took a strange hop off the boards.
  • Mount Royal got an insurance goal early in the third, again set up by Kollman. This time she found Lyndsey Janes in the slot for a one-timer, putting MRU up by two.

NOTES
  • Kliewer stopped 36 of Mount Royal's 39 shots.
  • Mount Royal was 1-for-4 on the power play, while the Cougars were 0-for-3.

NEXT UP
  • The Cougars will have next weekend off before embarking on a lengthy road trip to the West Coast. They'll face Trinity Western on Nov. 25 and Nov. 26 before playing at UBC on Dec. 2 and Dec. 3.
