Cougars fall 4-1 to Saskatchewan in Friday afternoon tilt

QUICKLY
  • The University of Regina's women's hockey team surrendered three first-period goals in a 4-1 loss to Saskatchewan on Friday afternoon at The Co-operators Centre.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Taylor Wilkinson, Kennedy Brown, and Kara Kondrat all scored for the U of S in the opening 12 minutes of the contest
  • The Cougars put Natalie Williamson in net after the third Saskatchewan goal, but went back to starter Arden Kliewer to start the second
  • Heather Fiske got the Cougars on the board late in the second period, deflecting a Rachel O'Toole shot for her second goal of the campaign
  • Saskatchewan's Sara Kendall added an insurance marker 12 minutes into the third, scoring the visitors' third power play goal of the game

NOTES
  • Kliewer stopped 31 of 35 shots, while Williamson stopped the only shot she faced in 7:51 of action.
  • Paige Hubbard also assisted on Fiske's goal. She's now tied with Hannah Pennell for second on the Cougars with six points.
  • Saskatchewan finished 3-for-6 on the power play. Wilkinson and Kondrat's goals were also with the Cougars shorthanded.
