Cougars finish off West Coast swing with loss to UBC

QUICKLY
  • The University of Regina's women's hockey team closed out a lengthy road trip by dropping a 6-1 decision to UBC on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • UBC scored the lone goal of the opening period as Jacquelyn Fleming scored eight minutes into the contest.
  • Kennesha Miswaggon, Cassidy Rhodes, and Ireland Perrott all scored for UBC in the second, giving them a 4-0 advantage through 40 minutes.
  • UBC's Joelle Fiala and Grace Elliott both scored in the opening four minutes of the final period.
  • Jadyn Kushniruk ruined the shutout bid with 12 seconds left, scoring off a nice shot from the slot following a Heather Fiske faceoff win.

NOTES
  • Arden Kliewer got the start in net for the Cougars and stopped 37 of UBC's 43 shots.

NEXT UP
  • The Cougars will now have a month-long break from the Canada West schedule. They'll return to action on Jan. 6 and Jan. 7 at home against Manitoba.
