Cougars, Huskies play to draw in wild match in Saskatoon

HEADLINE
The University of Regina's women's soccer team played to a 3-3 draw with Saskatchewan in a wild Canada West match in Saskatoon on Friday night in Saskatoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The two teams traded goals in the first half, with Saskatchewan scoring in the 24th minute and Taylor Bubnick replying in the 38th minute with a left-footed strike from just outside the 6-yard box
  • Bubnick scored again in the second half, giving the Cougars a 2-1 lead with an absolute cracker from 35 yards out in the 60th minute
  • Saskatchewan tied it up in the 63rd minute, but Peyton Enns gave the Cougars the lead back in the 68th with her first strike of the season
  • It looked as though the Cougars might be able to take three road points, but the U of S scored a minute and a half into injury time to secure the draw

U PRAIRIE CHALLENGE
The two teams split the available half point for this game. Regina and Saskatchewan now both have 0.25 points in the overall challenge standings after the first counting event of the season.

NEXT UP
The Cougars will head west next weekend for road matches against Thompson Rivers and UBC Okanagan on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
