Cougars settle for weekend split after Saturday loss to Manitoba

QUICKLY
  • The University of Regina's women's hockey team had to settle for a weekend split after 5-1 loss to Manitoba on Saturday afternoon at The Co-operators Centre.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Regina's Shaylee Scraba opened the scoring on the power play with a shot from the left circle 12 minutes in, but that would be the only goal of the game for the Cougars.
  • Manitoba's Molly Kunnas scored just four minutes later to send the teams into the first intermission tied up at 1-1.
  • Aimee Patrick scored what would turn out to be the game-winning goal on the power play just 45 minutes into the second. Vanessa Klimpke added another power play goal and Patrick scored again to put Manitoba up 4-1 through 40 minutes.
  • Klimpke's second goal of the game finished off the scoring 11 minutes into the third.

NOTES
  • Arden Kliewer stopped 33 of Manitoba's 38 shots in the loss. Regina sent 17 shots at Bisons goalie Meagan Relf.

NEXT UP
