Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's soccer falls to UBC in quarterfinals

QUICKLY
The University of Regina's women's soccer team lost 4-0 to UBC on Saturday in a Canada West quarterfinal in Vancouver.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • UBC opened the scoring in the 21st minute. Kareena Andersen made a brilliant save on a shot by Katalin Tolnai, but the rebound went right to Nisa Reehal who tapped it in for the goal.
  • Reehal was involved in UBC's second goal as well, slipping a pass from the right in the 32nd minute to Ella Sunde who gave the home side a 2-0 lead.
  • The Cougars had some encouraging moments in the second half, but it was Tolnai breaking through in the 76th minute to all but seal the win for UBC. Jade Taylor-Ryan added a final goal for the Thunderbirds.

NOTES
NEXT YEAR
  • The Cougars have no fifth-year players on this year's roster but Gaucher, Langen, Merk, and Sierra Kolodziej are all expected to graduate from the program.
  • A group of 12 third-year players will become the most experienced Cougars on next year's roster. All 12 of them appeared in Saturday's quarterfinal.
