Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Cougars finish season with Saturday setback to UBC

QUICKLY
  • The University of Regina's women's hockey team closed out its 2022-23 season on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 loss to UBC at The Co-operators Centre.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Ireland Perrott got UBC on the board with what would be the first of three power play goals for the visitors. Perrott's goal came late in the opening stanza and gave UBC a 1-0 lead at the first intermission.
  • Sophia Gaskell stepped into a slap shot from the top of the left circle to extend UBC's lead to two about five minutes into the second period. UBC had a pronounced 20-5 edge in shots in the middle frame, and broke through again on the power play with another goal by Perrott with five minutes to go in the second.

NOTES
  • Cougar goalie Natalie Williamson was spectacular, making 45 saves as UBC finished with a 48-15 advantage in shots on net.
  • UBC finished 3-for-10 on the power play while the Cougars were 0-for-6. The two teams combined for 40 minutes in penalties as Regina was whistled for 12 minors and UBC was called for 8.
