Belmore lifts Cougars to 71-39 home win over Brandon

Fourth-year guard collects 23 points, 7 rebounds in victory

Jade Belmore powered the University of Regina's women's basketball team to a 71-39 victory over the Brandon Bobcats on Friday night at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cougars led for nearly the entire contest. They took control of the game with a 13-3 run to close out the first quarter and did the same in the second, scoring 14 of the final 16 points of the period to take a 38-18 lead into halftime.
  • Regina continued to add to the lead in the second half, outscoring Brandon by a 21-14 margin in the third quarter and 12-7 in a low-scoring fourth.

NOTES
  • Belmore finished with a game-high 23 points for the Cougars, shooting 3-for-7 from three-point range while also collecting 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.
  • Izzi Fust added 11 points and led all players with 8 rebounds in her first Canada West game at the CKHS.
  • The Cougars shot 37% from three-point range in the win, finishing 10-for-27 as a team. Besides Belmore's three triples, Izzi Fust and Maddy Seida both hit two and Kyu Fust, Brenna Metz, and Taylor Gottselig hit one apiece.
  • The Cougars improve their Canada West record to 2-1 with the win.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday night at the CKHS. Tip-off is again set for 6:00 PM.
