• A road win over Calgary last Saturday gave unbeaten and No. 9-ranked Manitoba its first 4-0 start since the 2007 season. The Bisons have also collected wins over Saskatchewan, UBC, and Alberta to start the year.
• Manitoba has opened up a two-win lead over the rest of the conference. Regina, UBC, and Alberta are all 2-2 with Saskatchewan and Calgary sitting at 1-3.
MIMBS PULLS IN 100TH CATCH: Last week at Alberta, SB
D'Sean Mimbs became the 15th University of Regina receiver to haul in 100 career receptions. Mimbs now has 101 catches in his four U SPORTS seasons, needing just 15 more to jump past Jason Clermont and Kyle Moortgat for 10th in school history. Mimbs leads the Rams in both catches (22) and receiving yards (239) this season.
MAH HAVING BIG YEAR: LB
Cameron Mah had three solo tackles, five assisted tackles, and a tackle for loss last Saturday at Alberta. Mah is not only tied with DB
Ethan Jaster for the team lead with 18.0 tackles, but is also tied with DL
Tarick Polius for the team lead with 3.5 tackles for loss. Mah and Polius are tied for fourth in Canada West in tackles for loss.
NEWCOMERS BOLSTER RECEIVING CORPS: After Mimbs, a pair of newcomers have stepped up as the team's No. 2 and No. 3 receivers. WR
Nicholas Sirleaf (Calgary Colts) has started all four games and has 16 catches for 220 yards and a touchdown. SB
Renzel Arinaza (Terry Fox Secondary) didn't dress in the opener at Calgary, but has caught 12 passes for 182 yards since entering the lineup in Week 2. Arinaza had a 25-yard touchdown catch last Saturday, making him one of only four Canada West players with multiple touchdown receptions on the season.
ALL APPEL: SB
Kenton Appel has registered all 25 of the Rams' punt returns through the first four weeks of the season. He's averaging 6.7 yards per return and has a season-long return of 28 yards which came in Week 3 against UBC. Appel is on pace to threaten WR
Emmett Steadman's school single-season record of 50 punt returns, set in 2022 in Steadman's second year of eligibility with the Rams.
POLIUS AMONG CONFERENCE SACK LEADERS: DL
Tarick Polius enters Week 5 still ranked third in Canada West with 2.5 sacks. He's also tied with LB
Cameron Mah for the team lead with 3.5 tackles for loss and is tied for fifth on the Rams with 12.5 tackles this season.
PELLETIER ON TARGET: QB
Noah Pelletier continues to rank among the more accurate passers in U SPORTS. He has completed 75 of his 114 passes with only a single interception this season, and his completion percentage (65.8) ranks third in Canada West and 11th in all of U SPORTS. Pelletier is one of only two quarterbacks in the nation to attempt over 100 passes this season while throwing fewer than two picks.
McKELLAR COLLECTS CAREER HIGH: LB
Colin McKellar stepped up at the will linebacker position after LB
Garret Hatchard was injured on the Rams' first defensive play of last Saturday's game. McKellar finished with a game-high 8.0 tackles (5 solo, 6 assisted) and also shared a tackle for loss with LB
Jaxon Runge. McKellar was voted as one of the University of Regina's Sask Lotteries Athletes of the Week on Instagram earlier this week for his performance against the Golden Bears.
NEW LOOK RAMS: The Rams have gone with two different colour combinations in the three games since unveiling their new Under Armour jerseys in Week 2. They wore green jerseys with green pants in the win over Saskatchewan and again the following week at home against UBC, and debut the white/white combination last Saturday at Alberta. Equipment manager
Bob Thomas informs us that the Rams will again wear the white/white combo against Manitoba.
