PLAYOFF SITUATION: The Rams have a Canada West playoff berth all locked up and are close to clinching a top-two finish and a home semifinal game. Only a three-way tie at 5-3 between the Rams, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba can cause the U of R to drop to third, so any win by Saskatchewan (at UBC), Calgary (at Manitoba), or the Rams (at Alberta) will nail down a home postseason game.

ERICHSEN REWRITING RECORD BOOK: RB Marshall Erichsen is not only among the nation's rushing leaders this season, but he's also close to making some history. Erichsen enters Week 7 tied for the U of R single-season record with nine touchdown runs, a mark originally set by Neal Hughes in 2003 before being matched by Adrian Charles in 2010. He also has 859 rushing yards this season, the sixth most in school history and only 113 behind the U of R record of 972 set by Charles in 2010. Erichsen ranks second in all of U SPORTS in rushing yards per game (143.2) and is tied for second in the nation with his nine touchdown runs.

RACE FOR FIRST: Saskatchewan holds the season tiebreaker over the Rams thanks to the Huskies' 22-20 Week 4 win over Regina in Saskatoon. That means that the Rams will need some help on the out-of-town scoreboard to overtake Saskatchewan, which finishes the Canada West schedule this Friday on the road at UBC and next Saturday, Oct. 25 at home to Manitoba.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: The Rams are now up to six Canada West BioSteel Player of the Week nods this year after K Ty Gorniak was named the Special Teams Player of the Week after going 3-for-3 on field goals in the win over Calgary. RB Marshall Erichsen won Canada West Offensive Player of the Week honours following both Week 1 and Week 3, while DB Carson Sombach (Week 2), LB Liam LaBelle (Week 3), and LB Brandon Wong (Week 5) have all earned Canada West Defensive Player of the Week recognition.

SIRLEAF LEADS RECEIVERS GROUP: Always a big-play threat, WR Nicholas Sirleaf is second in Canada West in both receptions (41) and receiving yards (552) this season. Sirleaf has his triple digits in receiving yards in three of the team's six games this season including 160 at Calgary, 158 at UBC, and 111 against Manitoba.

HOLD THE LINE: The 27 U SPORTS teams have combined for 335 sacks this season, but not one of those sacks have been surrendered by the Rams. The U of R's offensive line this year has mainly consisted of OL Nate Boyd, OL Ethan Graham, OL Nick Makowsky, OL Nnadozie Marendiukobianwa, OL Riley Schick, and OL Will Templeton.

SACK REPORT: While the offence has pitched a shutout so far this year in terms of sacks allowed, the defence has combined to bring down the opposing quarterback nine times. LB Liam LaBelle has a pair of sacks and shared another with DL Jacob Dakiniewich, while DL Anthony Montas Leipert has two sacks and LB Kaeden Brennan, LB Colin McKellar, LB Brandon Wong, and LB Owen Zimmer have one each.

PICK LEADERS: The Rams rank second in Canada West with five interceptions this season, just one behind Saskatchewan's conference-leading total of six. DB Liam Platt (more on him below) and DB Carson Sombach both have a pair of picks, while LB Liam LaBelle has the other.

ROOKIE IMPACT: DB Liam Platt's two interceptions this season make him the first U of R rookie to have multiple interceptions in a season since current Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive back Jaxon Ford had two for the Rams back in 2018. Platt, who took over as one of the team's starting halfbacks in Week 3, needs one more interception to tie Aadon Fieger's record for most picks by a U of R first-year player. Fieger had three interceptions back in 2004 in his first season out of LeBoldus.

ONE-TWO PUNCH: Sirleaf and fellow second-year receiver SB Renzel Arinaza have combined for over 61% of the team's receiving yards this season. Arinaza, who had 42 catches for 451 yards and 2 touchdowns last season as a rookie, is on pace to eclipse those numbers this year. Through 6 games, Arinaza has 31 receptions for a total of 375 yards including a pair of touchdowns.

ROOKIE IMPACT (AGAIN): K Ty Gorniak has had a tremendous season handling placekicking duties for the Rams. The first-year kicker out of Balgonie's Greenall High School ranks second in the nation in field goal percentage with an 87.5% success rate which also currently stands as the U of R's single-season record for any kicker with at least 10 made field goals. Gorniak is 14-for-16 on field goals and 20-for-21 on point-after attempts this year, giving him a team-leading 62 points scored.

DRAFT REPORT: OL Connor Klassen was a fourth-round selection by BC earlier this year but was injured at Lions training camp. He returned to the U of R for his fifth season of U SPORTS eligibility, but has yet to suit up for the Rams this season. Looking ahead, the Rams had four players — OL Ethan Graham, LB Colin McKellar, OL Riley Schick, and DB Carson Sombach — participate in the 2025 U SPORTS East-West Bowl, which showcased players eligible for the 2026 CFL Draft.

RAMS TERRITORY: This year's roster features 105 players, with 71 of those players hailing from Saskatchewan. The squad also has 17 players from Alberta, 12 from British Columbia, 2 from Manitoba, and 1 each from Ontario, Arizona, and Washington.
