WONG HONOURED: LB
Brandon Wong was named the Canada West Defensive Player of the Week after collecting three solo tackles, four assisted tackles, and a fumble recovery in the win over Manitoba. Wong is the fifth Canada West BioSteel Player of the Week for the Rams this season. RB
Marshall Erichsen won Canada West Offensive Player of the Week honours following both Week 1 and Week 3, while both DB
Carson Sombach (Week 2) and LB
Liam LaBelle (Week 3) have earned Canada West Defensive Player of the Week recognition.
ERICHSEN CLOSES IN ON TD MARK: RB
Marshall Erichsen collected his seventh and eighth rushing touchdowns of the season in the win over Manitoba and is now just one short of the U of R record of nine, set originally by Neal Hughes in 2003 and matched by Adrian Charles in 2010.
MORE ABOUT ERICHSEN: Erichsen continues to rank second in U SPORTS with an average of 145 rushing yards per game, trailing only Western's Ethan Dolby. He now has 725 rushing yards for the season as the third-year running back remains on pace to become the U of R's first 1000-yard rusher. Erichsen has scored nine touchdowns in total this season, leaving him five short of the school single-season record of 14 set by Jason Clermont in 2001.
SIRLEAF BREAKING OUT: After an impressive rookie season which saw him collect a team-leading 371 receiving yards, WR
Nicholas Sirleaf has been even more prolific this year. Sirleaf is tied for the Canada West lead and for fourth in U SPORTS with 38 receptions, and his average of 107.2 receiving yards per game is second in Canada West and fifth in the nation.
PLATT'S PICKS: DB
Liam Platt collected his second interception of the season in last Saturday's win over Manitoba. Platt, who took over as one of the team's starting halfbacks in Week 3, is the U of R's first rookie to have multiple interceptions in the season since current Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive back Jaxon Ford had two for the Rams during the 2018 season. The U of R record for most interceptions by a first-year player is held by Aadon Fieger, who had three back during the 2004 season.
MORE INTERCEPTION NOTES: DB
Carson Sombach also had his second pick of the year against the Bisons. He and Platt both have two, while LB
Liam LaBelle has the other. Two of the Rams' five interceptions have gone for significant returns the other way, including Sombach setting a school record for the longest interception return in school history after taking it 109 yards for a touchdown in the Alberta win. LaBelle had a 40-yard return on his pick in Week 3 at UBC.
UNDER CENTRE: QB
Noah Pelletier was 13-for-24 and threw for 165 yards in the win over Manitoba including a 14-yard touchdown pass to Erichsen in the second quarter. The Rams also gave QB
Owen Sieben his first game action of the season last Saturday. The third-year pivot entered the game late in the third with the Rams up two scores and performed well, completing 7 of his 10 pass attempts for a total of 105 yards.
GORNIAK CONTINUES TO ROLL: One of just three players to break into the Rams' gameday lineup this season directly out of high school, K
Ty Gorniak has done a fine job of handling the team's placekicking duties. Gorniak was 3-for-4 on field goals in the win over Manitoba and is now 11-for-13 on the season, with his 84.6% success rate leading Canada West and ranking fifth in the nation. Also a perfect 20-for-20 on point-after attempts, Gorniak became the youngest U of R player (18 years, 52 days) ever to score a point earlier this year when he made his debut in Week 1 at Calgary.
SACK ATTACK: The Rams now have a total of seven sacks on the season with seven different players getting in on the party. LB
Liam LaBelle has a team-leading 1.5 sacks on the year while LB
Kaeden Brennan, LB
Colin McKellar, DL
Anthony Montas Leipert, LB
Brandon Wong, and LB
Owen Zimmer each have a single sack. DL
Jacob Dakiniewich also has credit for one shared sack.
NEW OC: New to the staff this year is offensive coordinator
Jaeden Marwick, who joins the squad after a three-year stint at Miller Comprehensive HS in Regina. Marwick, who earned All-Canadian honours as a quarterback with the Regina Thunder in 2015, played one season of U SPORTS football with Bishop's in 2016. He replaces Josh Donnelly, who left in the offseason to become an offensive assistant with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
DRAFT REPORT: OL
Connor Klassen was a fourth-round selection by BC earlier this year but was injured at Lions training camp. He returned to the U of R for his fifth season of U SPORTS eligibility, but has yet to suit up for the Rams this season. Looking ahead, the Rams had four players — OL
Ethan Graham, LB
Colin McKellar, OL
Riley Schick, and DB
Carson Sombach — participate in the 2025 U SPORTS East-West Bowl, which showcased players eligible for the 2026 CFL Draft.
RAMS TERRITORY: This year's roster features 105 players, with 71 of those players hailing from Saskatchewan. The squad also has 17 players from Alberta, 12 from British Columbia, 2 from Manitoba, and 1 each from Ontario, Arizona, and Washington.
