The University of Regina's men's hockey team scored twice in the third period to secure a 4-2 road victory over the University of Calgary Dinos on Friday night at Father David Bauer Arena in Calgary.
The victory, Regina's first win in Calgary since 2017, gives the Cougars three straight victories to start the conference schedule.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-
First Period: Neither team found the back of the net through the opening 20 minutes, sending the game into the first intermission tied 0-0.
-
Second Period: Ben Roulette opened the scoring at 10:53 on the power play with a sneaky rebound shot from the left side of the net, assisted by Rylan Pearce and Kurt Rookes. Calgary's Hayden Pakkala capitalized on a power play moments later following a high-sticking call on Regina and tied the game at 13:53, but Jye Zawatsky restored the Cougars' lead just 37 seconds later with another power-play goal. Pakkala struck again late in the period to make it 2-2 heading into the third.
-
Third Period: Carson Whyte put Regina ahead for good at 7:34 with a strong snipe to dead centre of the net as the third power-play goal for Regina, assisted by Cole Wirun and Jordan Borysiuk. Riley Fequet added insurance at 13:24, finishing a play set up by Zawatsky to secure the 4-2 win.
