Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Cougars fall to Calgary, Mount Royal on weekend road trip

U of R loses twin 5-0 decisions to Prairie Division leaders

QUICKLY
  • The University of Regina's women's soccer team dropped a pair of 5-0 decisions over the weekend, falling to No. 3-ranked Calgary on Friday and Mount Royal on Sunday during a road trip against the top two teams in the Prairie Division.

FRIDAY: CALGARY 5, COUGARS 0
  • Calgary opened the scoring just four minutes into the match. Brooke Batty sent a ball from the right into a dangerous area and, though the Cougars were first to it, the attempted clearance ended up in the net for a U of R own goal.
  • Erica Mysko and Ella Djuranic added first-half goals as the Dinos took a 3-0 lead into the break. Djuranic scored her second of the match in the 62nd minute before Elaina Tetteh-Wayoe closed out the scoring in the 86th.
  • Jenna Muir had two shots on target for the Cougars while Freya Millar added another, with all three coming in the opening half.
  • Peyton Magnuson started in goal for Regina and played the first half. Cassidy Fedoruk took over after the break and made six saves in her first Canada West appearance since the 2024 season.

SUNDAY: MOUNT ROYAL 5, COUGARS 0
  • The Cougars withstood heavy pressure from Mount Royal for the opening 30 minutes before the home side broke through with four goals over the remainder of the first half.
  • Zoe Brazier opened the scoring in the 30th minute and Gabrielle Linford doubled the lead four minutes later. Tamara Djurisic then scored in the 40th minute and again in injury time to send Mount Royal into halftime with a 4-0 advantage.
  • Djurisic completed the hat trick in the 73rd minute, running onto a through ball from Zyna Centeno and chipping it over Fedoruk for the only goal of the second half.
  • Magnuson and Fedoruk again split the goalkeeping duties, with Magnuson playing the opening half and Fedoruk taking over after the break.
  • Muir and Savana Caligiuri accounted for Regina's two shots on target.

NEXT UP
  • The Cougars will have Thanksgiving weekend off before returning to action for their final two home matches of the season. Regina will host Alberta on Saturday, Oct. 17 and MacEwan on Sunday, Oct. 18, with both matches set for noon at the U of R Field.
