Cougars fall 3-0 to MacEwan, 1-0 to Alberta on opening weekend

Team hosts Lethbridge this Friday, Saturday in home openers

  • The University of Regina's women's soccer team opened up the 2026 Canada West schedule in Edmonton over the weekend. The Cougars were topped 3-0 by MacEwan on Saturday before being edged 1-0 by Alberta on Sunday.

  • Alberta scored the lone goal of the match in the 28th minute on a long shot by Erin Hope.
  • The Pandas held a 6-1 advantage in first-half shot attempts and a 5-3 edge in the second half. Shots on goal were almost dead even, with Alberta finishing with a 3-2 advantage in that category.
  • De Luca, Falk, Magnuson, Millar, and Kasim all started and played all 90 minutes. Mya Pilat got the start and played 67 minutes in her first Canada West match while Caligiuri, Garcia, Kim, Muir, and Paquin were also in the starting 11.
  • Clara Jamieson, Wol-Harden, Albert, Hryniuk, and Taylor Mitchell all came on as subs. Wol-Harden played 87 minutes after replacing Caligiuri just minutes into the match.

NEXT UP
  • The Cougars will prepare for their home openers next weekend against Lethbridge (0-2-0). They'll square off against the Pronghorns on both Friday and Saturday at the U of R Field, with both matches scheduled for 7:00 PM.
