Dwayne Masson

  • Title
Run Game Coordinator & Running Backs Coach

Dwayne Masson began his current position of running backs coach with the Rams prior to the 2013 season and officially added run game coordinator duties to his portfolio beginning with the 2022 campaign.

Under Masson's direction, Atlee Simon became the first running back in University of Regina history to be selected in the CFL Draft after going in the sixth round to the Calgary Stampeders in 2018. Simon, named a Canada West all-star in 2017, finished his Rams career as the school's all-time leader in all major rushing categories. Rams running back Kyle Borsa followed in Simon's footsteps, going in the fifth round to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 2021 CFL Draft.

Masson has continued his involvement at the provincial level while with the Rams, serving as Team Saskatchewan's U18 head coach in 2022, 2023, and 2024. He guided the squad to a national championship in 2022 and a co-national championship in 2023, and also won national championships in both 2018 and 2019 as Team Saskatchewan's offensive coordinator.

Masson has coached football at a variety of levels for over 25 years, including being part of two Saskatchewan high school provincial championships (Campbell Collegiate in 1996 and Sheldon-Williams Collegiate in 2006). During his time at Campbell, the Tartans advanced to the city championship five times and won three of those. More recently, Masson coached with the Regina Thunder (CJFL) for nine seasons.

Masson is a fully certified NCCP Level II coach as well as a positional learning facilitator. He has also been a presenter at numerous clinics, including the annual Football Sask Coaches Clinic and the Regina Minor Football Coaches Clinic. He has participated in a number of Football Sask identification camps and RMF Spring League evaluations as well as the Roughrider Bowl.

Masson is employed by the City of Regina and enjoys hunting and fishing in his spare time.
