Kyle Stroeder 2024

Kyle Stroeder

  • Title
    Defensive Line Coach
Kyle Stroeder joined the Rams as a defensive line coach prior to the 2018 season.

Highlighting the defensive linemen that Stroeder has coached during his time with the Rams are Anthony Bennett and Tanner Schmekel, who were both named first-team All-Canadians in 2022 before being selected in the 2023 CFL Draft. Bennett became the fifth first-round selection in U of R history after going eighth overall to Winnipeg, and the Blue Bombers followed that up by taking Schmekel three rounds later with the 35th overall pick.

Stroeder came to the Rams with extensive coaching experience in both nine-man and 12-man football, including a provincial championship with Saskatoon's Evan Hardy Collegiate in 1997 and four national championships with Team Saskatchewan at the Football Canada Cup. He has also coached with Team Canada twice at the International Bowl and has prior experience at the Canada West level, spending the 2016 season with the University of Saskatchewan as a defensive assistant.

His playing career saw him win a pair of national championships, the first with the Saskatoon Hilltops in 1996. After earning league all-star honours with the Hilltops the following season, Stroeder joined the University of Saskatchewan Huskies and was a member of their Vanier Cup-winning team in 1998. After his U of S playing career concluded Stroeder played a season of professional football, suiting up for the Wichita Stealth (arenafootball2) during the 2003 campaign.

Employed as a director with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, Stroeder and his wife Kellie live in Regina and have three children (Ben, Addison, and Brynn). He's a fully certified Level 3 football coach and is a Sport Canada learning facilitator.
