Paul Dawson played for three years at O'Neill High School before moving on to play for four seasons with the Regina Rams. After finishing playing with the Rams, Dawson went on to coach at the high school level for 11 years, six of those coming as the head coach of the LeBoldus Golden Suns.
Fluent in both English and French, Dawson taught French and history at LeBoldus until taking over coaching duties with the Rams on a full-time basis beginning in early 2015.
Dawson and his wife Candice have three sons (Dillion, Isiah, and Jacob). Dillon Dawson was a five-year running back with the Rams, while Isiah Dawson served as the team's assistant equipment manager for several seasons and Jacob Carr was a running back and slotback with the Rams in 2009 and 2010.
