Michaela Kleisinger returned to the University of Regina's women's basketball program as an assistant coach prior to the 2022-23 season, and was named the Interim Head Coach following Dave Taylor's departure in July of 2025.
Kleisinger was a five-year Cougar, playing with the team from 2015 to 2020. She started out her U of R career as a reserve guard, but blossomed into a major contributor in her second season with the Cougars. In her final year she averaged 13.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game during Canada West play while recording the first three triple-doubles in Cougar history.
Following her playing career, Kleisinger spent two years in Edmonton completing her Master of Coaching degree at the University of Alberta and working as an assistant coach with the Pandas. With COVID wiping out the 2020-21 season, Kleisinger's role at Alberta focused primarily on player development in her first year there. But she gained a full year of experience as an assistant in 2021-22, working with a Pandas team that compiled an impressive 14-2 record in Canada West's Central Division and spent the entire season ranked in the U SPORTS Top Ten.
Kleisinger is originally from Regina and is a Campbell Collegiate graduate.
