Brandy West-McMaster

Brandy West-McMaster was named the University of Regina's interim women's hockey head coach in June of 2024.

West-McMaster played five seasons for the Cougars beginning with the 1998-99 campaign and finishing in 2002-03. She is one of the most decorated student-athletes in University of Regina history, earning Canada West Player of the Year honours three times and being named the CIAU Player of the Year in 2001. The Cougars made three appearances at the national tournament during her time at the U of R, with their best finish coming in 2001 when the team advanced to the national championship game. West-McMaster scored three or more goals 12 times during her career, remains the University of Regina's all-time leader in both goals (80) and points (133), and holds numerous other school single-season and single-game records.

She was the first women’s hockey player to be inducted into the University of Regina Sports Hall of Fame (2011) and was also inducted into the Regina Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.

West-McMaster has extensive experience coaching at the U SPORTS level, beginning at Wilfrid Laurier University as an associate coach following the conclusion of her playing career and continuing with the Cougars for a total of eight seasons in two separate stints with the team. She was also an assistant coach at the College of Notre Dame, helping guide the Midget AAA Hounds to an Esso Cup national championship in 2011. As a head coach, West-McMaster has led numerous high-performance teams including with the Regina Rebels at the U15 AA level in 2018-19, 2019-20, and 2021-22.

West-McMaster has two degrees from the U of R , including a Bachelor of Education (2001) and a Master of Science (2003). A longtime instructor with the Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies at the U of R prior to taking on the interim role with the Cougars, West-McMaster and her husband Colin McMaster have two daughters (Bailey and Keeley).
