Julie Foster has been involved with the University of Regina's women's hockey team for nearly its entire existence as a varsity sport. She was with the Cougars as an assistant coach during their inaugural season in 1998-99, played with the Cougars from 1999-00 through 2002-03, and has been an assistant coach since 2004.
As a player, Foster scored a total of 91 points in 58 regular season games with the Cougars during her four seasons. She won a Canada West title with the Cougars in 2001, made three appearances in the CIS Championship, and was a Canada West second-team all-star in both 2002 and 2003. Statistically, her best season came during the 2000-01 campaign, when she scored 10 goals and added 21 assists for 31 points in just 14 games. She still ranks second on the U of R’s career list in points scored per game (1.57).
