Michelle Owens joined the Cougars as an assistant coach prior to the 2021 campaign. Owens primarily works with the team's goalkeepers, a role she shares with fellow U of R alumna Ashton Lowry.
Known as Michelle Anderson during her playing days, Owens was the first player in Cougar history to receive Canada West first-team all-star honours. She earned that designation following a sparkling 2010 campaign which saw her collect four shutouts while backstopping the Cougars to a 5-7-2 conference record. Though Owens started her CIS career as a striker before moving to goalkeeper following her rookie season, she still remains the school's all-time leader with eight clean sheets. She's also the U of R's all-time leader in matches played as a keeper, matches started as a keeper, and minutes played as a keeper.
Owens is married to former Rams receiver Brenden Owens.
